What Are We All About?
🎭 Mission & Purpose
Stages of History is dedicated to bringing history alive for kids and communities. Instead of teaching history as something static in books, it invites students to step into the shoes of historical figures—performing, storytelling, and sharing lived experiences as a way to understand the past.
It’s not just about memorizing facts, but about empathy, creativity, and public speaking—helping others connect with voices from history while gaining confidence in their own.
📚 Our Programs
NextGen Chautauqua Programming: Do you have a kiddo who would love this? Are you interested in your child’s school doing Chautauqua? Would your state or humanities organization like to implement this kind of programming? Our NextGen Chautauqua program is here for it. We teach children third grade and up how to research historical figures, write monologues in the first person, and perform them for audiences. We would love to work with your child, school or humanities group to make some history together!
Community Engagement & Performances: We are TEAM CHAUTAUQUA. Performances happen in schools, libraries, and community spaces, often tied to local history events. We welcome the opportunity to present historical performances for local groups and organizations and support other local and state groups who do the same.
Workshops & Coaching: Are you ready to give Chautauqua a try? We are here to help performers of all ages with research, costuming, performance skills, and storytelling.
🌟 Why It Matters
Educational Impact: Helps students meet literacy, social studies, and performance standards in an engaging way.
Personal Growth: Builds confidence, research skills, empathy, and stage presence.
Community Connection: Revives the Chautauqua tradition as a shared cultural event, linking schools, families, and the wider community through live history.
